Lego Inception

So while not strictly in line with my other work this is something I worked on and I am rather proud of it! It was one of the modules for my University course and I had a lot of fun working on it.

The others that worked on it are:
Jack Bosworth: www.jbos3d.co.uk
Pedrom Dadgostar
Samuel Serridge: www.samserridge.com
Simon Stirrup: www.simonstirrup.com
Sidney Thibault: sidartz3d@gmail.com

All of these guys are excellent, both at what they do and as teammates. I suggest checking them all out.

Sterling - The Thaumetal Artisan

So this is the first of a set of a recent things I've been idly working on.
I've been designing potential champion ideas for the game League of Legends. Mostly because it gives me a template and starting point to work from.

This is Sterling. The idea was he was a man from an island in the sky, a curious person who fell from the sky.

To start with I only really had the fact that he somehow survived a fall from the sky to go on, and while I had a few ideas of where I wanted to go I was kinda trying some things like Parachutes and wings.

My friend is working on game mechanics for this guy and once we started to get them a bit more figured out I started to get a bit more of an idea of where I wanted to go with this guy.

10th post! And a Graduation present.

So I'm not gonna show any work in this post I'm gonna talk about this:

It's a Wacom Inkling, and it's pretty awesome.

Basically it's a sensor that clips onto the page and a pressure sensitive pen, both of which combine together to read your strokes on a page and turn your sketches into vector files. I'll be using it for a lot of the things I end up posting up on the blog.
It's not perfect so please excuse any wonky sketches, it probably means I was drawing a little too far from the sensor.

Luminoth Sentinel Armour

Another thing for the Metroid project. this is an armour to be worn by the Luminoth race.

Metroid Resonance - Samus

So this is some more stuff from the Metroid project. This is my attempt to try and design a new suit for Samus.

Since it was based on european folklore I thought having a sort of medieval knight feel to the suit would be a cool idea. I played around with having her in a full silver outfit but it kinda ended up looking a little too much like a federation trooper for my liking.
I ended up sticking with the core orange and red colouring as it was a fast-track way to make it look like Samus, and layering the 'armour' on actually accentuated the idea of a knight's battle-garb.

This was kinda my final reference sheet, but I'd like to stress that it's not done with modelers in mind, it was for me to draw from, so the proportions are not great and some of it doesn't work so well in 3D.

Greater Diyr - Advanced concepts

Advancements on the Sci-fi troll design. As you can see from the mini Samus it was intended for a hypothetical Metroid game. The name 'Diyr' is from a creature of European folklore similar to a troll.

Greater Diyr - Early concepts

A little more recent here. Some early development for an alien creature based on folkloric Trolls.
